If your target audience includes mobile phone users (and there are seriously going to be very few demographic groups that do not fall into this category), then mobile marketing is something that you definitely want to explore.

There is truly unimagined potential at the moment when it comes to mobile marketing. Right now, there are hundreds of thousands of new mobile users activated each week, so the options are growing when it comes to your target audience. The numbers and types of gadgets that deliver internet access at the users’ fingertips is astounding. From smart phones to tablets to netbooks and everything in between, mobile is the way of the future.

There are basically three ways to target your customers using mobile marketing, and these are ideas that your SEO marketing firm will explore with you, to see which options or combination of options will work best for your business:

1. Text or SMS: Using mobile devices, you can deliver text messages or SMS messages to subscribers to offer promotions or contact them when they are nearby, luring them into your place of business. Of course, you can only do this with their explicit permission, so be sure to get as many subscribers as you can from your current customer list, and work on building up your email address database. Many people, especially the younger populations, communicate more frequently through text messaging than phone calls or direct interactions. Capitalize on this trend!

2. QR Codes: Have you seen these interesting black and white designs that resemble bar codes? If you haven’t then you must be living under a rock. Quick Response Codes are designed to be used with apps on smart phones. The user scans the QR code and gets directed to a mobile site, which of course, your company has had developed. Once there, they can sign up for future offers, enter your database, get coupons, be presented with landing pages and offers that they cannot refuse, and, most importantly, unless they unsubscribe, you can contact them again and keep them as part of your customer base or lead base.

3. Mobile Apps: The development of a mobile app for your site may be a perfect addition to your SEO techniques. You can offer customers a way to make a purchase, place an order, compare products and services, get more information about your company, or be included when new information or alerts are available. Having a mobile app, and having your customers download it, gives you a much more direct way to maintain the lines of communication. People love to play with their mobile devices, and explore the many apps that they have downloaded. Make your company’s app be one of them.

Don’t be afraid that your company is not mobile ready, or that your target audience is not going to be using mobile marketing techniques for interacting with your company. With the measured and projected growth of mobile marketing, you want to make sure that you are keeping up.
