This should be calculated and targeted, because since you already know who your customers are, you just need to figure out where they’re most likely to spend their time online. For instance, if your ideal customer is someone aged 18-30, chances are they spend a good deal of time using social networking sites, so that’s probably where you’ll want to target.

Step 3 – Calculate Your Budget
If you’re like most business owners, being successful means finding ways to cut costs and stay within a specified budget. Therefore, part of developing a successful internet marketing campaign involves understanding the available resources you have to work with, and then prioritizing to maximize every dollar.

Step 4 – Create Your Content
Depending on the particular strategy you are planning to use, this could involve creating an ad, writing SEO copy, developing social media profiles, or more. The first thing to ask yourself is what you are trying to sell or accomplish, and then work to develop compelling content that will help you achieve your goals. If part of your internet marketing strategy involves search engine optimization (which it should), this is the time to start gathering information about keywords and phrases you should be ranking for.

Step 5 – Measure Your Progress
One of the most important components of a successful internet marketing campaign is measuring to see how your strategies are working. It’s critical that this is done on a regular basis, particularly if you are working with a budget, because you want to be able to quickly identify what is and isn’t working and adjust your campaign accordingly. Otherwise you may find yourself wasting time and money on something that isn’t producing results, when you could be allocating those resources toward something that is.

  1. I can’t say I agree with majority of this article. The premise that a successful web campaign simply increases traffic to a site is flawed – its all about quality, not necessarily quality. The power of online advertising is getting granular with targeting, not just increasing volume. Also, 18-30’s should be targeted through social media sites is a very broad assumption, especially considering the ever strengthening argument against the effectiveness of FB ads. And successful business is about cutting costs?!? Agree with some but plenty of caution required!
